So much has happened since our last New Years Post.
Andrew and I spent much of winter relaxing and traveling abroad while Charles and the rest of our staff took care of the winery and all the lovely folks who visited us weekends throughout December and January.
Much of April and May are spent "turning the property over" from Winters hibernation to prepping Summerhouse for guests; this includes a fresh lick of paint, new menus, new cocktails and this year a new coat of paint on the Summerhouse chairs.
Fences are stained, grass is mowed, vines are preparing for growth and wake from thier slumber. The Vineyard comes alive as the dormant vines begin to bud and blossom. Spring is always a season of new beginnings, where the landscape transforms from gray and dull to vibrant green with new leaves and bud break.
Summerhouse opens each year on May 24th long weekend (unless the weather is unuaually warm in which case we open the weekend prior) We are now on Summer hours 11:30-5:00 daily, then we will go to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays once it gets warmer.
The vines have had a cool and rainy start to Spring with some sweltering hot & dry days, so fingers crossed that 2025 is an excellent growing season. All we can do is hope, and all Mother Nature can do is cooperate.
We sold out of the 2023 Rose and have just released the 2024 small lot Rose. It is on the shelves and tasting delicious, so of course we are thrilled.
Cheers to good wine, and sipping in Summerhouse amongst the vines. Stay tuned for updates.
See you all on the vineyard soon!
